Conquering King
I think that sometimes we have an incomplete view of who Jesus is. I think that we have so focused on the grace and love of Jesus (rightly so) that we sometimes miss the power and strength of Jesus. You see, while Jesus is the Good Shepherd and the Sacrificial Lamb, he’s also the Conquering King.
The Kind You Are
It means that we were created in God’s likeness; we are His seed. It means that we have infinite value because He has infinite value. It means we have a relationship with Him like no other being. It means we are at the top of His mind and heart because we are like Him.
Never All Of It
Here’s the takeaway: you and I will never feel like we can do all of it. We’ll never feel like we have all of what it takes. We’ll never feel like we have the correct balance for all of life. We’ll have areas where we feel unqualified, under-resourced, and unworthy.
Between Two Kingdoms
In John 18:36, Jesus is standing before Pilate. Pilate is expecting Jesus to make a plea to be freed. Instead, Jesus simply says, “I’m not focused on this world.” In other words, Jesus wasn’t worried about the immediate when He knew what the eternal promised. He knew His fate as He stood before Pilate.
It’s Not That Far Away
What has God placed near us that—while it seems ordinary—is positioned there for extraordinary purposes?
Here’s what I know about our God: He always resources our needs.
Live in the Shadow
Psalm 36 (especially verses 5-12) is a beautiful Psalm of David. I’d encourage you to go and read the entire chapter. In the Psalm, David contrasts the wickedness of people around him to the greatness of God. In verse 7, David talks about the perfect love of God and then says, “People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.”
