The Kind You Are

Genesis 1:11 (NLT) Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened.

Genesis 1:26 (NLT) Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.”

God created it all. He created it with just a thought and a word. The seas, the land, the skies, the birds, the fish, vegetation, and humanity were all created by the voice of our Creator.

That’s amazing enough, right? It’s an obvious display of the supremacy and superiority of God Himself—that He was from the beginning and created with just the words of His mouth.

But then we see little nuggets like the two verses above.

God created plants, trees, and fruits… pretty amazing. Then He said, “These seeds will produce the kinds of plants and trees they came from.” That makes sense. After all, no one ever picked a lemon off a pear tree. You can’t look at a holly bush and expect tulips. It’s the way our Creator designed it.

If you skip down just a few verses, you see how much more amazing this is. God created human beings and said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.”

Do you see the power in that? Seeds and plants produce according to their kind. God produces according to His.

What does that mean for you and me?

It means that we were created in God’s likeness; we are His seed. It means that we have infinite value because He has infinite value. It means we have a relationship with Him like no other being. It means we are at the top of His mind and heart because we are like Him.

It means that you—yes, you—are made in the image of the Creator God.

Let that sink in for just a moment…

You are that special. You are that loved. You and I can live our lives with the confidence that comes from knowing who our Creator is and who our Father is.

Let that sink in. It can change everything, if you let it!
