I’m to loved…

Ephesians 3:17-19

so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Wow! That is a lot of love!

Paul, writing to Gentiles in Ephesus tells them he’s praying for them. He’s praying that they may stay grounded in the love of Jesus. He goes on to try to explain how big the love of Jesus is.

It’s wide.

It’s long

It’s high.

It’s deep.

If you think about it, those directions draw a cross, don’t they? I don’t think it’s an accident Paul explains it to them and to us this way. The truth is, it’s impossible for us to comprehend the true love of Christ. The beautiful part? He doesn’t just say he loves us, he proved it on that very cross that Paul seems to imagine as he’s writing this letter.

There’s power in us realizing that Jesus loves us. In fact, I would have to say that ultimately our power to live and walk through life comes from the fact that Jesus loves us. It’s as simple as that. His love makes us able to withstand the conflict, hurt, pain, and disappointment that comes our way. His loves makes it possible for us to shake off and push through difficult times, relationships, and struggles. It’s his love. When we begin to wrap our minds around this (I say begin because I don’t think we’ll ever finish), it puts much of life in perspective.

We’re too loved…

We’re too loved to let others’ words steal our joy.

We’re too loved to let the enemy steal our peace.

We’re too loved to let bumps in the road throw us off course.

We’re too loved to let annoyances become things that destroy our day.

We’re too loved to focus solely on this life.

We’re too loved.

I’m too loved.

You’re too loved.

Here’s a little declaration you can make as you face the difficulties that are sure to come today…

I’m too loved to ________.

You fill in the blank.

I’m too loved to let that unkind word destroy my confidence.

I’m too loved to let this sickness take my purpose in life.

I’m too loved to let comparison steal my joy.
