Life & Death in 1 Chapter

Genesis 3:6-7:

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

It’s the moment in history when everything fell apart.
We’re still feeling the effects of what Eve did this day in the garden. The tempter was sly. Convincing her that what God said was false and even that God was holding something back from her.

The Bible says that after Eve ate and gave some to Adam, they suddenly realized they were naked. They were suddenly knee deep in sin and realized their inadequacy.
God had given Adam and Eve everything they could have ever wanted. They had an entire garden. They had food at their finger tips. They had no reason to want more or any reason to doubt God. However, one encounter with the Tempter changed their thinking.
Genesis 3:21 goes on to say this:

The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.

Do you understand what this means? For the first time, man appeared sinful in the eyes of God. God hated the sin of Adam and Eve. God despised the fact that they had chosen to disobey Him.

But…
God loved Adam and Eve enough to cover their sins.
God loved them enough to help them through their inadequacy.
And so the story goes throughout the next few thousand years. God reaching out to man, trying to make a way for relationship with them.
Eventually, God had enough and decided that the only way to fix it once and for all was to offer His most valuable gift… Christ.
Today, walk in the love, forgiveness, mercy, and power of God.
Today, it doesn’t matter what you did yesterday.
Today, remember that while God hates sin, He’s passionately in love with you.
