I came across this passage while doing some reading and praying today:
Mark 9:23-24 “If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
Could it be that the Dad in this passage said, “I believe,” because he really did?
Could it be that the Dad in this passage said, “Help me with my unbelief,” because He wanted to SEE his faith in action?
Could it be that the small faith Jesus referred to in this passage is needed because God’s going to cultivate more faith in our lives by seeing His works in action? (I know, Jesus didn’t say the word “size”)
Could it be that a little bit of faith, when seen validated, becomes a whole lotta faith?
I think it’s so important that we realize that God works in ways that HE wants to work.
However, I don’t think we can underestimate the power of prayer and faith.
It’s through knowing God’s will, believing that His will must come to pass, and taking action steps of faith that our faith becomes larger.
It’s through His grace and His action that our faith grows.
It’s through believing that God has our back while the going is tough and seeing that He does indeed have our back that grows our faith.
Just thinkin out loud….
