Not Sin Covering, Sin Crushing

I don’t know about you, but one of the things that I’m really good at is doing something that I know I probably shouldn’t do, asking forgiveness for it, and knowing in the back of my mind that I’ll probably do it again.

Maybe I’m too honest, but I do this occasionally.

That’s why when I read something like 1 John 3:5,
I know it’s for me…

And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. – 1 John 3:5

Did Jesus come to forgive our sin?

Absolutely.

Did Jesus come to cover up our sin?

Nope.

Did Jesus come so that sin wouldn’t have power over us?

Yes!

Jesus doesn’t want to be a tarp we throw over our sin when we do something we shouldn’t,
Jesus wants to help us take our sin on and out of our lives.

If we see Jesus as a big bottle of white out, covering our mistakes,
we’ve short-changed who Jesus is and what He wants to do.

Jesus wants to be the sledge hammer that crushes our sin.

You have power in Him.
I have the ability in Him.

To not do that anymore.
To withstand the pressure of the people around me.
To go against society.
To do exactly what God wants.

Don’t see Christ as a sin covering,
see Him as so much more.

Jesus wants to do some sin crushing!
