1 Peter 2:2 “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation”
I don’t have one of my own, but I do know that newborn babies always seem to be hungry. They always seem to want a little more of the milk their moms give them. In this passage, we get a clear picture of what a true Christian’s desire should be…for spiritual milk.
If you think about it, the milk is where a baby get the necessities for life. The milk contains the nutrients necessary for a baby to grow and develop.
The word of God is this much of a necessity in our life. Our desire should be to constantly crave what God has to offer. The word of God should be our nutrients for living the Christian lifestyle.
On the other hand, we all know what happens when a baby tries to digest something other than milk. The results can be quite fatal to the parent that changes the next diaper.
My thought: Many Christians have a dirty diaper. They’ve tried to suck nutrients from other outlets in their own life and it’s left a mess for them to sit in. When we seek to get our daily nutrients from other sources, it makes us sick as a Christian.
Our goal: To get back to the spiritual milk of God’s word. To devour what God places in front of us on a daily basis. To rid ourselves of all distractions and crave spiritual milk.
So, are you devouring the word of God, or are you sitting in a mess?
