A Battle or A Problem?

I’ve been thinking about blogging about this for a while, but haven’t because I don’t really know what the solution is, or if there really is one. I don’t even know if it works. Here’s the thought though…

One of the great problems I see with many Christians is the battle between not being legalistic and being no different from someone that isn’t saved.
Let me try to restate it. The line between legalism and living a freedom filled Christian life can be hard to walk.
Here’s the reason I haven’t blogged about this before.
I really think that if we’re listening to the voice of God and His Spirit, it’s not that difficult. Sure, temptation comes every one’s way, but if you’re in tune to the Holy Spirit, His conviction should fall when you’re crossing either line. Right?
Many Christians seem to be on extreme sides of this. A lot of Christians are legalistic and dismiss the freedom and grace that Christ offers. Still, some Christians “relate” to the culture so much, that they’re no different from it…no salt and light to it.
I really have no answer for this, except to live by the Spirit. I think it’s something that comes with growth in Christ and an eagerness to become more like Him. I think we learn to still obey in the gray areas through experience and our knowledge of God.
So, if the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a characteristic of a Christian, should true CHRISTIANS really fight this battle?
I would love to hear your opinion! Come on, don’t be shy!
