Luke 4:40 At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.
Jesus laid hands on EACH ONE and he healed them.
Did you know that Jesus isn’t a “one size fits all” Savior?
Jesus doesn’t have a template for how he works in our lives.
When Jesus acts on our behalf, it’s individualized, personal, and powerful.
In Luke 4:40, people are coming to Jesus. He had just healed Peter’s mother in law (insert mother in law joke here) and other people had seen what he had done. Those that could make their way to Jesus came for a healing touch and those that couldn’t make their way to him were brought by other people.
Can’t you just imagine. The people have heard about this guy, Jesus. They’ve seen his work. Now they’re desperate for a touch. They thought they just needed a healing, but Jesus provided so much more than that… an opportunity to commune with the Son of God.
At this point, Jesus could have just spoke and healed them all at once… he had that ability. He could have snapped his fingers or held up a hand toward the crowd. He didn’t do any of that, instead, he touched them individually. It shows his compassion for the hurting, but also his love for the individual.
Jesus still cares to heal and touch each of us. Don’t settle for a sterile, non personal view of Jesus. If you’re hurting, don’t expect just some blanket touch. No, he’s personal. He knows you. He notices you… and he interacts with you in a personal way.
