I love the book of Joshua.
It’s a great picture of what happens to someone who is patient and loyal. Particularly, the first few chapters of the book are rich with leadership lessons, life lessons, and pictures of the power of God.
One of those lessons and picture of God’s power is in Joshua 6. Many of us know the story of the walls of Jericho falling down and the Israelites going in to take the land that God had given to them.
We know about the marching around the walls that the Israelites did.
We know that they shouted the 7th day and the walls fell down.
We know that they went in and took the city.
I think, though, we often forget that the miracle was God’s work, but the marching was the people’s.
You see, when we ask God to do something in our lives, more times than not, he uses what we’re doing to do it. When we ask for the miracle, we can’t refuse to march.
The march seemed ridiculous…
pointless…
even embarrassing.
But the march was what God commanded Joshua to have the Israelites do so that He could perform the miracle.
Are you willing to march?
Are you willing to do something while you ask God to do something as well?
It may seem ridiculous… stupid even.
It may seem odd and people may even laugh at you.
It may feel as if you’ve already done it before.
Listen to God and obey.
Are you willing to march and trust God with the miracle?
