I’m not a surfer.
In fact, I have never even owned a surf board or gone surfing.
I don’t really like to ride a bike.
I don’t even own a bike.
There’s something about those 2 things that makes me feel like I’d be out of control. Like riding a wave into the beach or coasting down hill on a bicycle, life can sometimes feel like we’re out of control and heading to a destination we’re not entirely sure of.
When it comes to our faith and life, though, let me ride.
What I mean is that living life with Christ and following God isn’t about feeling in control. The essence of faith is feeling like you’re riding a wave or riding a bicycle down hill. We aren’t always sure what God’s up to and we’re not always sure what we’re doing, but we follow God anyway.
Out of control is exactly where we should be.
That’s why it’s important that we keep our ears tuned to God and what He’s saying.
That’s why it’s important that our faith is deeper than surface level.
That’s why it’s important we have good people around us.
It’s a ride. It’s full of ups and downs, highs and lows, good and bad, tough and joyful.
It’s a ride. The destination is confusing at times and the future often feels uncertain.
It’s a ride. And it’s completely worth it!
It’s important that we realize this because nothing is worse than fighting to control what you’ll never be able to control. If we try to “figure out” faith, we’ll be left in frustration and fruitlessness.
Slow down, go for the ride, and trust God along the way!
