Rain is a pain, isn’t it?
It can cancel outdoor plans.
It can change our mood.
It can make a muddy mess at our door.
It can ruin a back yard BBQ.
It can ruin an afternoon drive.
It can spoil a bride’s outdoor wedding.
Rain is a pain, but it also serves a purpose.
Nothing grows without water.
Flowers die without being receiving some rain.
Lakes dry up if they never get their fill of water.
Don’t hate the rain.
Rain comes into our lives in many ways.
Sometimes, it’s a person that we just can’t seem to get along with.
Sometimes, it’s a family member that just doesn’t see eye to eye with us.
It can be a financial issue that leaves us wondering where to go.
It can be a sick family member that means the world to us.
It can be a miscarriage.
It can be an ended relationship.
Rain in our lives, just like the rain that makes the grass grow, produces something inside of us that we wouldn’t get any other way. These “rainy” times of life are where we build deeper relationships with the people we rely on and do life with. These rainy times are the times God builds our faith and allows us to know Him in a way we simply can’t during sunny times. Rainy times make us appreciate the sunny days and cause us to celebrate where we’ve been and what we’ve gone through years after we make it through them.
So, if you’re having a “rainy” day…
Try pressing in to God rather than pushing away.
Try imagining what these days could be growing inside of you.
Determine that, when you see the sun again, you’ll have grown because of the rain.
