3 Lessons About Life From the Big Bang Theory TV Show

BIG-BANGOne of my favorite shows on TV is the Big Bang Theory. It’s one of those shows that I can watch the same episode several times and still laugh my head off every time.

If you haven’t seen the show, it centers around several scientists that are geeks and best friends. The other day I was watching an episode and couldn’t help but think about these life lessons…

Find good friends
These guys are best friends. They know each other. They fight with each other, but they’re always there for each other. We need other people. No matter what personality type you have or how much you like to be alone, you need other people you trust around you. Every time I find myself avoiding others is when I also find myself down and out. We need each other.

Be who you are
The guys on the show love comic books and Star Wars. Even with the girl that the guys like living across the hall, they are still themselves. Be who you are. Sure, we can always work on certain things and grow in Christ, but we can’t change who we are. Don’t make apologies for that. Be you.

Accept people the way they are
The main character of the show, Sheldon, is as strange as they come. He has so many weird quirks that it sometimes seems like he can’t function in public. The other guys in the show accept him. Sure, he gets on their nerves and they have words on occasion, but they still accept him… flaws and all. We have to do that with others. Don’t wait for the people around you to be “suitable” to be around. Accept them… scars and all.

If you’re a fan of The Big Bang Theory, what could you learn from the guys?
