Then he added, “Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people in exile and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says!’ Do this whether they listen to you or not.” (Ezekiel 3:10, 11 NLT)

A preacher.
It’s tempting to try and prepare a talk or a composition for the audience only. It’s tempting to force all of our creative juices and energy on developing an idea that others can grasp and chew on.
It’s tempting to do it all and never let our work speak TO us.
However, the most creative songs, writings, and sermons I’ve heard are the ones that are real to the person speaking or performing them.
The most transformational and challenging works are the ones that are personal to the person presenting them.
Don’t just prep your next sermon, piece, writing, or photo for the person that’s going to be sitting on the other side of them. Don’t do all of that work for the people that are taking it in,
Let God speak to you first. Let it sink deep. Let it fill you. And then deliver it to the audience.
That’s the best way.
