Lead Not By Force

Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it. -Dwight Eisenhower

Leadership happens when people aren’t forced to do something, but do something because of their passion to do it.
It’s often seen when people in any organization are doing a set of tasks because it’s their job, but what if more organizations and people began to do things because it’s what they want to do.
We would see…
  • More excellence in our work.
  • More accomplished.
  • Less frustration.
  • Less animosity.
We can force people to do things by exercising the power that we have, or we can inspire people to do things because of the passion in which we lead.
It often seems as if forcing people to do things is the easier approach.
Leading in a way in which people have a passion to do things takes time, attention, and care.
The methods are different, but so are the results.
