You Don’t Have Long

This morning, I had an opportunity to preach about something that I believe is one of the most important concepts found in the Bible. It’s the concept that the family is the primary spiritual disciplers of their children.

For years, the church has refused to talk about this. After all, putting work back on to parents, whose schedule is already loaded, isn’t the fastest way to get families to attend a church. However, the church is not the place for children to get the bulk of the spiritual foundation. The place for that is within the home.

When families begin to get this right, I believe families will begin to be revitalized. I hear it said all the time that families can’t talk about scripture and spiritual things at home because parents aren’t “trained” to teach scripture. However, God has called parents to do it, and God doesn’t call us to do something that He won’t equip us to do.

Parents, take the role that God has called you to and nurture your children’s spiritual growth. Us the time that you have with your children wisely…they’ll be grown before you know it!
