Today is the first day of November, so I thought that it was appropriate to repost this blog entry from February 15th. It seemed like so long at the time until the wedding date. With only a month and a half left…it still sometimes seems like forever! Here’s the post…
I became the luckiest man in the world tonight! I am officially engaged! I always figured that at some point in my life I would make the commitment, but I never really processed the whole concept of it. It’s amazing to think that a year and a half ago, I was single and didn’t really have any thoughts of settling down anytime soon. As of tonight, February 15, I am engaged. What a thrill and an honor to be engaged to the most wonderful woman in the world!
Here’s how the whole thing went down:
I had been working it up for a couple of weeks. I had been talking about making a photo album of all the places that we go so that we will have it to look back on. I pretended like I was working on it to give it to her for Valentine’s. I made out like I didn’t get it finished in time. So tonight, I told her that I had finished it and asked if she wanted to have a look. We sat on the couch at my apartment and went through it. Each picture had a caption such as, “This is where we first held hands.” The last picture was a picture of the couch that had a caption saying, “This is where I proposed.” Then, I got down on one knee and asked Melissa to marry me. Thank God she said yes! I also had Caleb take a picture of her face while I was proposing so that the next caption could be, “This is your reaction to the proposal.”
