Life & Leadership From Tim Tebow

Like most Sunday afternoons, yesterday I sat down to watch some football…
(After all, Sundays are made for church, napping, and football.)

As I was flipping through the games, I came across Tim Tebow and his first start in the NFL.

For those of you that don’t follow football, Tim Tebow is a verbal Christian that many said didn’t have the right skills to play in the NFL.

Like him or not, Tebow had a pretty decent day in his first start as a pro.

He looked pretty impressive.

Here are a few lessons we can all learn from Tebow.

1. Be yourself. Tim Tebow makes no excuses for who he is and what he represents. Some people don’t like him, and he’s OK with that. He continues to be himself.

2. Be passionate. If you’ve ever seen him play, one of the first things you notice about Tebow is his passion for the game. He doesn’t hide it, rather he lets other people feed off of it. He loves what he does and he allows it to come through in the way he does it.

3.  Be tough. Tim Tebow doesn’t allow his critics to get to him. He has a way of overcoming criticism and out-performing what others expect (like yesterday). No matter what people say about him, he handles his business.

Be yourself. Be passionate. Be tough. Some great lessons all of us need to remember.

What “celebrity” have you learned a life lesson from?

You Better Be Sellin What You’re Buying

If something’s worth buying into, it’s worth bringing others along for the ride.

Some of the greatest salesmen are people that were once a customer of their company.
The ones that were so thrilled with what they bought that they ended up selling it.

Not only are they happy customers,
they’re happy salesmen.

No matter what you’re doing, if it’s good, you should be willing to sell it.

You should be willing to invest in it.
To share it.
To put your self on the line for it.

This concept transfers to many parts of life…

For leaders, this concept should be the goal.

That people are so in love with the vision that we’ve put in front of them, they’re not only willing to buy  into it (catch it), but they’re also willing to sell it and bring others along for the ride.

If not, we’ve failed to truly sell them on what we’re trying to accomplish.

For a Christian, you must be willing to sell what you buy.
Sure, you didn’t pay anything for your salvation, but you did agree to give your life for it.

You should be willing to ‘sell’ others on the same thing.

If you aren’t willing to share what you’ve dedicated your life to.
If you aren’t willing to tell others about what you are dedicated to.
If you aren’t willing to sell out for what you’ve bought into,

You’re not a true customer.

You should always be bought-in enough to sell.

Utilize the Moment

Growing up, I had a chore to do every week that I absolutely hated doing.

I had to clean out and wash the family car.

Every week, I would try to get out of doing the work.
I’d try to think of some reason why I couldn’t do it that week or shouldn’t have to do it.

It never failed, though.
I never got out of it.

So, every week I’d clean the family car out.
Some weeks it’d look alright,
other weeks I’d have to do it over.

I was just going through the motions because I knew it was something I had to do.

As I’ve gotten older and pay for my own car,
I seem to do a much better job of cleaning it up and washing it.

The reason?

I care about it because it’s mine.

So much of life operates like my chore as a child and my task as an adult.

If we see a need for our action, we’re more apt to give more effort for it.
If we have a vision and calling from God, we’re likely to give it all we have.

A lot of people go through the motions of life…
Trying to get to the weekend,
trying to make the time pass.

If we’re seeking our callling and purpose, it changes that outlook…
Instead of seeing tasks, we begin to see opportunities.
instead of dreading waking up the next day, we begin to seize it’s opportunities.

If you’re just drudging your way through life,
you need to find the purpose of it.
You need to find your calling.
You need to seek God’s vision.

Don’t just go through the motions, utilize the moment!

From My Journal – God LOVES Me!

While I try to be as transparent as possible on this blog, it’s not often that I share something directly from my heart and raw in nature.

But, I wanted to take a second and share something that I wrote in my personal spiritual journal a few days ago.

I think that many of you, like me, need to be reminded of this today.
In fact, I think we need a daily reminder of this.

Here’s what God spoke to my heart a few days ago and has been reiterating in my spirit…

I have no idea why I mean so much to God,  but I’m so glad that i do!  He has my best interest at heart,  and the best interest of everyone in the world.  He works it all out perfectly. I don’t need to worry… The God that is above me loves me for more than even the greatest  people around me.

He is watching,  blessing,  and playing out His story. It’s not God’s desire for me to guess what he’s got up to or be surprised when he comes through…. that’s just what He does… his timing is perfect,  his blessings are many,  and his gift is eternal!!!

What’s God been speaking to you that we may profit from hearing about?
