More Of ______.

Matthew 15:33 The disciples replied, “Where would we get enough food here in the wilderness for such a huge crowd?”

Instead of looking at what’s in front of you, look at the capabilities of the God that is with you.

You have more than you think.

More than you see.

More than you can manufacture.

You have…

More promise.
More potential.
More resources.
More ability.
More comfort.
More future.
More purpose.
More hope.
More joy.
More love.
More _____.

Than you think you do.

You have more than what you realize.

The disciples sure did.

Matthew 15:37 They all ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food.

What do you need to know that you have more of than you could have imagined? Fill in the blank…

I have more _______.

Video Blog: Identity Crisis

Because of our sin, we’re born with a desire to identify ourselves with something/someone.
We search for it in a variety of things and people.
Until we place our identity in Christ, we’ll never have lasting joy, peace, and assurance.

Unfortunately, some never find their true identity and see themselves as Christ sees them…

How to Lose Your Life

Spend most of your time trying to convince the people around you that you’re someone you’re really not.

I’m serious…

I’ve seen so many people worry constantly about how they “look” in front of other people and walk through life without any joy.

Think about it…

If we spend our time, energy, and effort worrying about what the people around us think, we have no time to be ourselves.
There’s something reviving about being able to let loose and be yourself… if you never let loose, you suck the joy out of your life.
If we’re  always worried about how we look to other people, we’re not opening up to let other see who we really are.
We never develop genuine relationships when we never allow anyone to know the real us.

The worst part of it all…

Sometimes, we don’t even realize we’re doing it.

We’ve done it so long that it’s become second nature to us.
We don’t know how to be ourselves any more.

This is truly an epedimic in America today and I’m afraid that it is in the church as well.

But God made us to be us, not someone else and not a cheap imitation of ourselves.

Your thoughts?
Do you know these people?
Are you one?
How do we break this cycle?

The Reward of Moving

This past Saturday, Melissa and I packed up all we owned and moved across town.

After a lot of sweat, a little blood, and maybe a few tears (I was worn out!) :) , we finally managed to get everything settled in.

As I was spending some time reflecting on my day yesterday, I had this thought…..

Moving is sometimes a hassle, but the joy that comes from completing it exceeds the hassle.

Here’s what I mean…

Life happens.
Sometimes good, sometimes tough.

Through it all though, God is moving us to places in order to bless us.

Sure, sometimes the moving process is painful.
Sure, sometimes we’re forced to do some things that aren’t comfortable.
Sure, sometimes we even find ourselves face down asking God to explain why He’s doing what He’s doing.

However, the joy that comes from the movement far exceeds the pain.

There’s no greater feeling than knowing we’re doing what God’s calling us to do.
There’s no greater joy than coming to the next place in our lives and seeing a piece of what God is planning.
There’s no greater fulfillment than moving with God!

There will be no greater joy than when the journey is completed!

So,

no matter what you’re going through,
no matter what you’re facing,
no matter how things may appear,
keep moving with God.

Impossible to Extraordinary

I know that this has been said many times and is a pretty obvious biblical truth but,
it also seems to be something we often forget.

Whatever you’re facing, it isn’t hopeless for the King of Kings!

It doesn’t matter how catastrophic your situation may appear,
or how over-bearing the obstacles may seem,
it isn’t hopeless.

You may think your life is too far gone,
that you’ve messed it up so bad,
you can’t return,
God will never take you back…
You’re wrong!

I’m pretty certain that those close to Jesus (even though they were told differently) had their doubts when He was placed in the borrowed grave.
I’m sure that for 3 days, they were kind of on edge about what they had spent the last several of their years doing.
I’m sure it seemed pretty hopeless to all of them.

But, what they doubted, God did.
What others saw impossible, God saw as a cinch.
What doubters discounted, God displayed.

All hope isn’t lost for you.
There could be a miracle on the horizon.
Just keep looking.
Keep searching.
Keep praying.
Keep faithful.
Keep the faith!

The impossible may just turn into the extraordinary!
