Where is God? In the Details

I was reading through Numbers 6 and 7 a few days ago and learned this…

God is in the details.

God was in the details of creation,
God was in the details of the tabernacle,
God was in the details of the sacrifice,
God is in the details of our lives,
God is in the details of our church.

God is a God of details.

We know that God has the hairs on our heads numbered
that he knew us before we were born.

God cares about the details.

It’s important that we do the same.

That we check the details of ourselves,
that we examine the details of what we lead,
that we notice the details.

  • When God seems far away, it may be in the details.
  • When God is blessing, it may be in the details.
  • When things are crumbling, it may be in the details.
  • When you’re gaining influence, it may be in the details.
  • When your faith is growing, it may be in the details.

I don’t know what the details are in your life, but check em,

because…..

God is in the details.

The Rocky Path

When I was still living at home, my parents decided to remodel their kitchen.

They decided that they really liked tile floors and called the tile man.

I still remember how careful the tile guy was to be sure that he was laying the tile on a smooth surface.
Every few minutes, I’d see him smoothing out the grout to be sure that the tile would lay flat.
After he laid a piece of tile on it, he never smoothed it again, it had already been worked out.

“If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” - Frank Clark

The obstacles that are in your way exist because the path is not worn…
The grout hasn’t been smoothed out.
No tile has been laid.

Few have traveled the tough path,
the path that it takes real faith to travel.

  • The path that gets up everyday and lives out their faith even though the office they work in is filled with people that don’t.
  • The path that prays for their children even though their children ignore the faith they’re taught.
  • The path that loves when it doesn’t make sense… when it’s not easy.
  • The path that forgives because they’re forgiven.
  • The path that pastors even when the people refuse to be lead.
  • The path that prays for and obeys their parents even though they’re never shown love.
  • The path that is faithful to their husband even though he isn’t faithful to her.
  • The path that lives a vision from God by the voice of God and not by the opinions of man.

Those paths have obstacles because they haven’t been smoothed out… not many people have been there… not many people are willing to pay the price.

Today, welcome the obstacles.

The obstacles are evidence of the destination.

For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.- Matthew 7:14

Travel on and…

turn the world UPSIDE down.

When God Gets Lost

I know this probably isn’t the most perfectly “spiritual” question to ask, but does God ever seem lost to you?

When you need Him most, does that ever become the time that He seems the furthest away?

For me, sometimes it seems as if I think I’m doing everything right. (as if I could earn His company)

I’m going to church, I’m serving Him with everything that I have, I’m spending my daily time with Him, but I cant seem to find Him.
He seems to be lost in the shuffle. Or better yet, I seem to be lost in the shuffle.

It’s times like these where I feel like I need Him most.

Not because anything particular is going on, but because I’m desperate. I feel like I’m doing life on my own and I know that’s not possible.

Possibly, that’s why these times come up…. So that I’ll seek Him further than I do everyday.

So, I’m asking for advice… I’m certain I’m not the only one that needs it…

What do you do when you feel like you’re doing everything you know but He still seems to be missing?
(practical advice please)

Testify!

Remember when churches used to have testimony times?

Times for the congregation to give testimony to what God has been doing in their lives.

The truth is, God is good.
He’s been good to us.

There’s certainly something that we can all testify to that God’s done in our life recently.

For me, He’s given me more vision for what He’s gonna do through me in the future.

So, your turn.

Testify!

More Of ______.

Matthew 15:33 The disciples replied, “Where would we get enough food here in the wilderness for such a huge crowd?”

Instead of looking at what’s in front of you, look at the capabilities of the God that is with you.

You have more than you think.

More than you see.

More than you can manufacture.

You have…

More promise.
More potential.
More resources.
More ability.
More comfort.
More future.
More purpose.
More hope.
More joy.
More love.
More _____.

Than you think you do.

You have more than what you realize.

The disciples sure did.

Matthew 15:37 They all ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food.

What do you need to know that you have more of than you could have imagined? Fill in the blank…

I have more _______.

The Promise, Not the Profit

It’s much easier to say than to do.
To put our confidence in the character of God and the promises of God more than what we immediately see is tough.

It’s where faith comes into play.
It’s where we do what doesn’t necessarily make sense.

Today, I’m trusting in the promise and character of God, and not just the profit from God.

6 Lessons From Acts 9 (Part 2)

Yesterday, I posted about 6 lessons I learned while reading through Acts 9 a few days ago.

These are some really applicable lessons, no matter who you are or what you do.

I thought they deserved a little more explanation…

1. Significant impact is often made by ordinary people with extraordinary potential. No matter where we look in scripture, we constantly see God using people that may have seemed like they weren’t the best candidates to do the most significant things. Whether it be Moses who had a hard time talking or Peter who had a hard time listening, scripture is filled with stories of these people. You and I can’t overlook people because they don’t seem to be someone that has great ability. At the same time, never let anyone tell you that you are too messed up for God to use you… HE CAN.

2. Never let what seems to be interfere with what can be. We’re great at making excuses. We’re great at looking at a situation and deciding before we even start that it’s impossible. Aninias had heard about Paul. In fact, Aninias wasn’t diggin being anywhere near Paul. But, Aninias was willing to obey God in spite of who Paul appeared to be. Paul was a changed person. Had Aninias not look past what seemed to be and believed that God could do the impossible, this story would have turned out a lot differently. Yours can too!

3. When God calls you to serve, don’t attempt to command. Aninias was willing to serve Paul. He didn’t try to tell Paul what to do. Instead, he touched Paul and Paul was able to see again. We have to be intentional about serving people…not just telling them what to do.

4. When God calls, don’t hesitate. We’ve heard the saying, “He who hesitates is lost.” It’s true with God too. God wants our immediate obedience. God placed a call on Paul’s life and we see him immediately obeying it. This is the beginning of Paul’s ministry. Paul didn’t wait and pray more about what God had told him. Paul didn’t wait until the circumstances were perfect. Paul obeyed God. We must do the same.

5. Allow people to help you. Paul was in the hot seat. Jews had figured out what had happened with him, and were wanting to kill him. Paul didn’t act like he knew what to do, instead, he was willing to accept help. Accepting help doesn’t show weakness, it often prohibits mistakes.

6. Remember that persecution often brings growth. The persecution that the believers went through brought about growth in the believers. In fact, throughout the book of Acts we see where persecution made the body stronger. If you’re dealing with some persecution know that when you make it through, you will be stronger. Be faithful.
