Is ‘Impossible’ An Impossible Possibility?

Impossible

We hear that all kind of things are impossible to accomplish.
When we have something placed in front of us that seems really difficult, we often refer to it as being impossible.

BUT,

Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.”

SO….

Impossible

A reality?
OR
An excuse?

Do we often use the word “impossible” as an excuse to not bother trying?

I’ll let you take it from there…..

Do We Over-Celebrate the Cross?

A few nights ago, I was laying in bed and trying to go to sleep by doing a little reading.
I was reading Greg Gilbert’s “What is the Gospel?” when I came across this…

If Christ had remained dead like any other “savior” or “teacher” or “prophet,” his death would have meant nothing more than yours or mine. Death’s waves would have closed over him just as they do over every other human life, every claim he made would have sunk into nothingness, and humanity would still be without hope of being saved from sin. But when breath entered his resurrected lungs again, when resurrection life electrified his glorified body, everything Jesus claimed was fully, finally, unquestionably, and irrevocably vindicated.

Needless, to say, I was wide awake!

While we often celebrate the cross, it’s deadly image, and a Savior hanging as He breathed His final breath, we often forget just how essential the resurrection is.

A dead Savior wouldn’t have done.
A burried Christ would have failed to serve His purpose.
A resurrected Savior was what the world needed for redemption.

So, that’s what He did.

He got up!

That should motivate our life.
That should get our permanent celebration.

So, let me ask…

Do we over-celebrate the cross?

3 Experiences God Wants You to Have

The fact that God has mercy on us to keep us alive is amazing enough.

The fact that God desires the best for us is the icing on the cake.
The way that He works with us to glorify Himself and allow us to experience joy is simply astounding.

Here are 3 things that God desires all of His people to experience…

1. Salvation. God desires that we be reconciled to Him. In fact, He desires it so much that He was willing to part with His only Son for it to happen. God wants all to know Him. He wants none to perish.

2. Worship. God wants us to experience worship. God wants us to worship Him by accomplishing our purpose and living lives that glorify Him. Worship is essential to us. God desires it, but we are the ones that really need it. To find who He is and how much we need Him more today than yesterday.

3. Obedience. Our obedience to God reveals our faith in God. God desires that we experience obedience to Him. Through obedience, God is able to receive our love and bless us accordingly. Obedience is so much more than being a puppet controlled by God, it reaches deeper, it fulfills our need for purpose.

Will you experience what God desires you to experience today?

What other experiences does God desire for you and I?

Impossible to Extraordinary

I know that this has been said many times and is a pretty obvious biblical truth but,
it also seems to be something we often forget.

Whatever you’re facing, it isn’t hopeless for the King of Kings!

It doesn’t matter how catastrophic your situation may appear,
or how over-bearing the obstacles may seem,
it isn’t hopeless.

You may think your life is too far gone,
that you’ve messed it up so bad,
you can’t return,
God will never take you back…
You’re wrong!

I’m pretty certain that those close to Jesus (even though they were told differently) had their doubts when He was placed in the borrowed grave.
I’m sure that for 3 days, they were kind of on edge about what they had spent the last several of their years doing.
I’m sure it seemed pretty hopeless to all of them.

But, what they doubted, God did.
What others saw impossible, God saw as a cinch.
What doubters discounted, God displayed.

All hope isn’t lost for you.
There could be a miracle on the horizon.
Just keep looking.
Keep searching.
Keep praying.
Keep faithful.
Keep the faith!

The impossible may just turn into the extraordinary!

Put Up or Shut Up

Here’s a question that I’ve been asking myself lately…

What does it mean to follow Christ?

Now, I know that there are some typical answers to this question,
but they’ve really become more “church talk” than an actual lifestyle.

Here are a few practical examples of what following Christ look like when put into action…

  • Loving people that seem to not deserve and love.
  • Reaching out to help even when it seems to be really inconvenient.
  • Making Jesus a part of every part of our lives.
  • Not being afraid to step out on faith.
  • Really believing and LIVING as if nothing else matters.
  • Keeping eternity at the forefront of our minds.
  • Believing and LIVING like there is a literal hell.
  • Giving it all in determination to show others that they are important.

Luke 9:23 “Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”‘

Your thoughts…

What’s it mean to be a Christ follower?
