One ‘Thing’

We all have that one thing…

That one thing we wish we could change.
That one thing we wish we didn’t have.
That one thing we wish we didn’t do.
That one characteristic we wish we didn’t display.
That one hangup that we wish we could overcome.

We all have that one thing…………….

Me, The Sticks, & A Conference

Today, I’m at NewSpring’s leadership conference.

I was looking forward to the conference since it was first announced.

A couple of months ago, I found a new reason to look forward to it.

I’m going to be at the conference promoting The Sticks Conference.

The Sticks is a gathering movement for church leaders in smaller towns.
All too often, leaders in smaller towns are neglected or feel as if they’re all alone in their mission to change their community.

The Sticks helps bring these leaders together and helps inspire and motivate them with their conference.

We’re really looking forward to hosting this event at Cornerstone November the 9th and 10th.

Some of our guests include Pete Wilson, Carlos Wittaker, Scott Williams, and Troy Gramling.

I’m excited an honored to play a part in what God is doing and is about to do in smaller towns throughout the U.S.

I hope you’ll help by passing the word along.

Oh, and if you’re at the conference, stop by The Sticks table or hit me up on Twitter so we can connect!

Spiritual Anorexia

For as long as I can remember, I’ve battled a weight problem.

As a 10 year old boy, I can remember knowing that I wasn’t happy with the way I looked and felt.
In fact, I can distinctly remember thinking time and time again as I looked in the mirror, “I don’t feel like a fat person, I just look like one.”

You see, I knew that I was a mostly happy, energetic, polite, and nice boy.
I knew that I was just like all my other friends on the inside, it was just my outside that was different.

I became pretty determined as I entered middle school that I was going to make my outside match the way I felt on the inside.
I eventually lost a lot of the weight and am now pretty average for my height.
But, it’s still a struggle…

Some people reading this are in the same boat I was as a child…
Just the other way around.

You’ve been playing the Christian game.
You look good on the outside.
You seem to have it all together.
You’re really good at putting on a ‘spiriutal facade’.
You give your time and money to the church.
You know the right spiritual words,

But Jesus has never captivated your heart.

Your inside doesn’t match your outside.

You’re still left empty at the end of the day.
You’re left with very little joy, fading enthusiasm, and obvious emptiness.

You need to let Jesus change your inside.

You see, I’ve learned a few things in my 24 (as of Friday) years of life
One of those things is,
God changes people from the inside out.

Let Jesus be your Savior,
Let Jesus rule your heart,
Then, let him change your actions.

_______________

This is one of the GREATEST problems in the church today and something that I’m passionate about seeing changed. Please pass this post along to the people you connect with.

Leaders Lead

Leaders…Lead.

Leaders are followed.

Leaders make decisions.

Leaders demonstrate the right way.

Leaders step out first.

Leaders dare to be different.

Leaders set themselves apart.

Leaders aren’t afraid of crunch time.

Leaders don’t follow the crowd.

Leaders don’t always choose easy.

Leaders choose right over popular.

Leaders are willing to invest in people.

It sounds simple.
It sounds obvious.
But it seems a lot of us have forgotten,
Leaders MUST be willing to be different.

It’s hard to take the lead and be the same as everyone else.

Leaders – lead!
