6 REAL Ways to Get More #Twitter Followers

There are a lot of rumors and junk floating around the internet when it comes to gaining more twitter followers.

Sure, you can pay for them, but that doesn’t really help most people. Most people want to connect with people that are like them or that share the same interests. They want practical ways to connect with more people.

So, with that being said, here are several REAL ways to get more REAL twitter followers.

1. Tweet good content.

It’s simple… People take notice of what they like or benefit from.

2. Thank people for #FollowFriday mentions so they’ll do it again.

This one is often overlooked, but can really help. People want to know you appreciate them giving you a shout out… Thank them for it if you want them to do it again.

3. Make the first move.

Follow targeted users (by search or people that are followed by the people you follow, RT, and mention).

4. Interact.

With new people followed, with people RTed in your timeline… After all, it is called ‘SOCIAL media.’

5. Use your twitter profile as your website in blog comments.

Link your Gravatar to your twitter profile or fill in the ‘web’ portion of the comment field with your twitter address (http://twitter.com/____). This way, when people click on your name in the comments section of blogs you comment on, they’ll get to your twitter profile first.

6. Tell your FB friends, Linkdin connections, and G+ crowd.

Post a link in your profile info to your twitter and post the link as your status on occasion. Even if you’re connecting with the same people, it gives you more chances for RT’s and more chances for your @ name to be noticed.

OK. We need more. What suggestions do you have?

Friendly Fire: Has the Church Turned Against Itself?

Growing up I remember playing video games with amazing graphics in a machine known as the Nintendo.

I loved playing games where I could do something through the machine that I could have never done in real life. I loved playing games where I was fighting against something that was attempting to take over the world. My band of commanders and I were ready to take out the evil empire.

However, as a child I would get bored with the games really quickly. There were never enough of the enemies to take out and I would look for something else to do within the game.

When I wasn’t walking out of the level (some of you are tracking with me), I would occasionally begin to fire at my own side… My own teammates.

It wasn’t because it was the goal, I knew it wasn’t, it was because I had lost sight of the real mission of the game – to take out the enemy.

I’m afraid the Church has often been guilty of playing out much the same way.

We’ve lost sight of the real mission and began to fight amongst ourselves. We’ll fight over doctrine, theology, and processes, while often forgetting that it’s all about Jesus.

We need to turn this around. We have to.

In order to reach the world.
Let’s find the essential things we agree on and fight for the ‘good guys’!

How to Publish An Ebook for Free

A few weeks ago, I put a free ebook up on my blog and online. Not wanting to control everyone who downloads it, all I did was simply ask for a tweet for each download.

While I was putting the Ebook(let) together, I looked for resources around the web that could help me. The truth is, I found very few. Few that didn’t want me to buy something or sign up for something that was a ‘free trial.’

So, I had to kinda feel my way through the process of publishing an Ebook without wanting to make money or spam email accounts. Here’s what I did….

  1. Write. I actually wrote the material. All the way. Straight through. Right off of the outline I had before-hand. I made very few corrections and no revisions during this time.
  2. Edit. I went back (once the rough draft was done) and edited and made corrections. Typos, misspellings, and revisions were all open for debate during this time. I even sent it to a couple of trusted people for their opinion.
  3. Name. After I had it in a pretty much finished form, I thought of a name for the Ebook. The name wasn’t extremely catchy, but introduced the topic.
  4. Design. I designed the cover and the feel of the book. I went bold and with 2 colors. No real reason for it… I just found a couple of fonts that I liked (that were readable) and went with it. Remember: Keep it simple.
  5. Table of Contents. After hitting the ‘add page number’ button, I then put in a table of contents. I thought this would be helpful even though it was really short so that people could skip right to a section that caught their eye.
  6. Write Bio. I had a bio already ready to go, but made a couple of revisions on it too. I then added my web digits (twitter, facebook, google plus, email, etc) to the bottom of the Bio page… just for the pub. :)
  7. Export. Export to PDF. A PDF file is more image(ish) and won’t change during upload. Words and pictures are set into place in a PDF and won’t jump around or change looks.
  8. Upload. I uploaded my Ebook to Scribd.com. There are other options out there, but this one was free and seemed easy for the reader to navigate to and download from. Scribd has a free account that you can log into with your Facebook credentials.
  9. Publicize. Lastly, I wrote a blog post about it, twittered it, put it on Facebook, and told friends about it. Anything I could do to get the word out.

That’s what it looked like for me. Again, I was just looking to put something that I was passionate about out into the world for anyone to get ahold of. If you want to make money or have other ideas, this may not be the best method.

Once again, This post isn’t for everyone, but I hope it helps someone out.

OK, what’s the best book you’ve read in the last year? Do you have an Ebook or blog you could link to in the comments? (here’s mine)

3 Signs God’s Not Done With You

1. You’re forgiven

You were done. You were doomed. Now you’re forgiven. If God were done with you, He wouldn’t have gone to such great lengths to make forgiveness a permanent thing.

You’re still forgiven. There’s still hope because you can come to the Father in confidence that He hears you… Just you and Him.

2. You’re alive

When you’re done, you’re dead.

God still has something for you to do. he still sees you’re valuable for Earth or He’d have you in heaven. You have purpose. It’s still being accomplished.

3. You’re family

You’ve been adopted into God’s family. In fact, scripture calls you a child of the most high God.

If God was finished with you and didn’t think you could do anything else for Him or youre not valuable to the family, you wouldn’t be in it.

Take heart, God’s not done with you.

Regardless of how you feel or what you’ve been told.

You still have value
You still have work to do!

Any other signs you could add?

Samsung Stereotyping iPhone’rs

This has made its way around the internet now, but I thought I’d pass it along in case you haven’t seen it. It’s funny, but kinda shows how much we stereotype people.

Are the stereotypes right?
