Love: The Missing Ingredient

As I read through scripture and as I observe successful people, I see one constant underlying theme…

LOVE.

No matter what we do or where we plan on going, it’s important that everything we do be done in love.

The example has been set.
The command has been made.

When I look at my life and ministry, I can look back on the failures and the successes and see that many times, the difference was love.

It’s the important ingredient in everything we do.

Without it, we’re operating, but not operating successfully.

No matter what you do.
What you lead.
Who you’re around.
Where you are.

Don’t fail to include the base ingredient for your life…

LOVE.

Honor Your Leader: 10 Ways to Do It

Leadership is not for the faint of heart.

There’s a lot of pressure on a leader, no matter what they’re leading.

I’ve come to realize that leading can be a lonely and often stressful position.

Here are 10 ways to honor your leader…

1. Follow them.

2. Talk positive about them.

3. Give them the benefit of the doubt when you hear something negative.

4. Write them a thank you card.

5. Stick up for them around others.

6. Support their vision.

7. Tell them.

8. Pray for them.

9. Believe in them.

10. Serve them.

How else can you honor your leader?

4 Questions

1. Were you raptured? :-)

2. If you had to just take one snack on a road trip, it’d be?

3. What’s your favorite food?

4. Who/What are you listening to these days?

Confidence or Cockiness?

I read this article the other day about HP’s mobile devices.

After I clicked off of it, I couldn’t help but think of the confidence that HP has in what they make… in who they are.

Here’s a quote the article has from one of HP’s head dudes…

In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one. In the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus.

I have to admit…
I have my doubts.

But I do like the enthusiasm and belief that they have in themselves.

It’s a fine line between having confidence in ourselves in Christ and having cockiness in ourselves.

Confidence says,

“I can do this.”
“The One that is in me is stronger than the one that is in the world.”
“I will do well.”
“I can do all things through Christ.”
“I WILL do this because I’ve been called.”
“I recognize my giftedness.”

Cockiness says,

“I’m gonna do it my way.”
“I’m doing this for me.”
“Look at what I did.”
“I’m better than them.”

It’s a fine line, but confidence is a must have for any leader,
for anyone.

Be confident in yourself.

The One that created you created you with a passion and for a mission.
Be confident in that.

What do you think the difference is between confidence and cockiness?

Division is Easier: 1 Step to Change the World

I read a lot of the same blogs, web sites, and articles that you do.

We engage in the same kind of conversations centered around Christianity, the church, and methodology.

What breaks my heart about reading these things and engaging in these conversations is what often happens after they’re published or said.

Instead of reading and leaving with a new thought or having a conversation and focusing on how we can agree with the other person, many people try to find what they don’t like about what was written or said… What they disagreed with on the subject.

I understand that we come from different backgrounds and bring different ideas and life experiences into everything we do. What I don’t understand is why the very topics (Christ and the Church) that should bring unity to the people included brings disunity instead.

What would happen if we came together and focused on what we do have in common…. Focused on the essentials that we agree on rather than the debatables that we may never know for certain? What would happen if we knew our enemy and realized it wasn’t each other, but evil and the one that brings it?

I think we’d be busy fighting a spiritual battle with the Enemy and have less time to fight amongst ourselves.

I think it’d change the world.

That’s what’s on my mind today.

What do you think?

Looking Forward

With Melissa changing jobs soon, she has a couple of days between her last day at her current job and her first day at her new job.
We’re using that time to get away for a few days and spend some time catching a Braves game, shopping, and relaxing.

It’s amazing how much better the day to day grind is when you have something to look forward to.

So,

Just one question…

What are you looking forward to?
