What’s It Mean to You?

What does true success look like?

  • Money
  • Family
  • Job that you enjoy
  • Material things
  • Being used by God
  • Health
  • Social life
  • Relationships
  • Pleasure
  • Good grades
  • Fulfilling a purpose
  • Being admired by peers
  • Being sinless
Our answer to this question determines our actions. Our answer to this question is what motivates the majority of our lives. Some of these may not matter to you, others may. Some of them you may say don’t matter, but you still spend much of your time chasing them.
Here’s where I’m getting in my personal life.
  • Jesus
I’m not there yet, but I hope I get there. I want my version of success to be following Him. As a matter of fact, I don’t want anything else to even matter!

Only Because Of Him!

I found this over on M.J.’s blog earlier. I have to say, it was a huge encouragement to me. Thought I would be doing you an injustice without sharing it here too. M.J. is a great man of God and a pastor at Northwood Baptist Church in Greer, S.C.. You can read all of his posts over on mjharvell.com. I recommend you stopping by there after you read this!

Rejoice because you are God’s child. You have been filled with His Spirit. Remember that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. No matter what happens to you today, know that our God will see you through because He is faithful.

You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you and if God is for you, then who can be against you. You are above and not beneath. You are blessed coming in and going out. You are ready for anything and everything through Jesus Christ – who will always and in all situations cause you to triumph and be victorious. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might because you are more than a conqueror!

From Here to There and Still Here

Why is it, when you get from here to there, you’re still here?

I found this little brain teaser on my Google homepage earlier. It was meant to be funny, but for me, it was also thought provoking.
I think this explains many of us. We work so hard to get to the next place we think will finally satisfy us, only to realize, we still feel the same.
Each stage of life seems to bring on a new set of disappointments and worries. While we think that the next stage will offer a relief and will be better, the truth is, it still won’t feel like it’s where we want to be.
Why?
I think it’s because we aren’t happy with ourselves in either stage. If you’re not really happy with who you are, where you are, you’re not going to be happy with your self where you’re going.
The solution?

We have to find peace with ourselves no matter where we are. We can’t be satisfied with where we are with Christ, but we have to be tapped into the peace, joy, and hope that He brings.
Any more thoughts?

More Bulletin Typos

I’m never sure how real these are, but here are some more bulletin typos I found on the web the other day. I can’t help but think that these are probably made by someone afraid to move away from their classic typewritter to a computer. :-)

Applications are now being accepted for 2 year old nursery workers.

Evening massage-6PM

A songfest was hell at the Methodist church Wednesday.

Next Thursday will be choir tryouts. They need all the help they can get.

Smile at someone you love. Say “hell” to someone who doesn’t care much about you.

Potluck supper at 6PM. Prayer and medication to follow.

Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight. Come and hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa.

Not Naming Names

There are some people in life that really make a difference to us. Some come into our lives for a short time and are suddenly moved out for one reason or another. Other people spend years in our lives and pour into us constantly.
I’m so happy for the people that God has brought into my life. I’m thankful for the people that have made an impact during a short time, and those that I have been learning from for years. I’m thankful that God has allowed people to help form me into the person I am today. I am a little bit of a bunch of people because of the impact they have made on me. I’ve watched, learned, emulated, and have been changed because of these people.
I’m not going to name names because I’m sure I’ll leave people out, but you know who you are and I thank you! Because of the people that have poured into my life, I am a better person and a better disciple of Christ!
Who are you making a difference in right now?
