Why Systems Matter Much Less Than We Think

system

When it comes to leadership of any capacity, we hear a lot about systems. Systems are the processes that are in place that help organizations and businesses run smoothly.

When this happens, we go here and it’s entered here.

That kind of thing.

We place heavy emphasis on these systems in any organization (the church included), but what we often fail to shed any attention on is the one thing they all require…

Working the system.

Your system for anything is only as good as what you do with it.

Put bad in, get bad out.
Put nothing in, get nothing out.

While the systems we use certainly need to be good, sometimes just doing is better than a great process without any procedure.

It may be your personal productivity system.
Just start making a list and getting disciplined.

It may be your personal financial system.
Just start and find out where your money is going.

It may be your church’s assimilation system.
Put someone in charge of being sure the first step happens.

The point is to start.
Take action.
Get the ball rolling.
Push the boat into the water.

Don’t let your creation and evaluation of the system keep you from working the system.
