Young Leader: It’s Not About You… Not Yet At Least

YOUIt’s really not about any of us. But especially right now, it’s not about the young leader. While you’re young and inexperienced, it’s not about you accomplishing all of your dreams. Sure, they are there. That’s one of the things that makes you a leader. If you’re not in the first chair of an organization, though, it’s not about you accomplishing all of those things… yet.

In the meantime, it is about the vision that the head leader is putting before you.

It’s about you serving, giving, praying for, and supporting that vision. It’s about you gaining experience, learning how to handle problems that pop up along the way, making quick calls in your area of authority, and helping the vision come to pass.

Right now, for us young leaders, it’s not about us.
It’s not about our right now.
It’s about longevity.
It’s about us allowing ourselves to be taught and built up.

I know it’s tough. To have passions inside of you that you want to just run with. But be faithful where you are and you’ll grow faster. You’ll move on further faster if you’re willing to build your leadership the right way.

In the meantime, remain…

Patient

Be faithful where you are and don’t pull out of the position you’re in too soon. Remember, you’re building to lead well for the long hall, not to accomplish a goal now.

Passionate

God’s put that in you… keep it alive. Stoke it. Find a way to even use it where you are.

Persistent

Show up everyday. Give your all where you are. You’ll get there.

    1. Great thought!

  3. Great article! I’ve learned that if we always serve others by exposing their own heart and passions to them, we build people and loyalty. The longer I am a pastor, the more I want to serve others.

  4. Thank you so much. I am learning. I love the 3Ps you shared here.
    God bless Jonathan
