2 Things You Forget About God

FORGETHe is the one you should praise; he is your God, who has done great and wonderful things for you, which you have seen with your own eyes. (Deuteronomy 10:21 NCV)

1. God deserves our praise.

We give our attention and admiration to a lot of different things. With a culture that is focused so much on self and self image, we even tend to resort to praising ourselves. The truth? Only God deserves praise. Sure, we should appreciate people and the things that we have, but nothing else deserves our praise… our admiration… our life.

2. He gives us all the good things we have.

No matter what good things you have, they’re God’s things. The blessings He gives us are beyond our ability to earn them and beyond our ability to hold on to them. All good things come from above. The people, the stuff, the circumstances, all the good stuff comes straight from our Creator.

So I have a question…

How have you seen God move in your life? Help finish this post.

  1. Jonathan: I guess semantics enters the picture here. I prefer to use the word “worship”. We should worship God alone, instead of earthly things and other people. I still feel the need to use the word “praise” when talking about things here. For instance, I feel I want to praise you for the inspirational blogs you create and share. I do not worship Jonathan Pearson, however, only God.

    1. Yes. I do think it’s semantics. Of course, we can appreciate people and their talents… we should do that. The problem is when we begin to “praise” people and things without realizing God is the source of it all. I think we’re on the same page. Thanks, Hal.

  2. These thought processes help me remember to be thankful to God for caring about me. As a teenager God showed me how he could fill all the voids I had in life. And as an adult he’s shown me how my life experiences uniquely prepared me for the good work he had in mind for my life.

    1. Amen. Great thoughts!
