3 Resolutions For The Young Leader

RESOLUTION2Be Healthier

As a young leader, it’s so critical we take care of ourselves… in everything. We have to make it a point to be healthy physically, emotionally, and spiritually. How you carry this out as a young leader will look differently depending on who you are. For some, making it a point to be healthy may mean scheduling time to work out 4 days a week or taking up new hobbies to recover emotionally. Whatever you need to do, make a resolution to get healthy and stay healthy… yes, that matters to you even if you’re in your 20s or 30s.

Honor Your Leader More

Honor is such a big thing in leadership. Whatever you lead or whoever you lead with, be sure honor is a big part of what you do. The people that lead you have been placed there by God… honor them with your time, your speech, and your service. The way you honor the people that lead you will be the way people honor you.

Enjoy Your Life

It’s totally okay to make a resolution to have fun. As young people, we’re in a spot that allows us libteries to have some of the most fun of our lives. No matter what you do this year, make a resolution to have fun doing it. Take time to have fun and be sure to find the fun in the everyday and the normal. Enjoy life, you’ll live more effectively, lead more effectively, and be happier as a result.

Share away… are you making any resolutions or goals?

  1. Last year, I tried new “habits” each month. Some stuck, especially the exercise ones.

This year, I want to learn a new skill every 2 months. Basic level, by spending 30 minutes a day, 5 days per week.

Things I will try: learn spanish, learn an instrument, learn computer programming, etc.

    Have a great year!

    1. That’s a great idea!

  2. I don’t make resolutions in the normal sense. I come up with a word for the year and orient everything in my life around it. In 2014 it’s Foundation – so I’m trying to build a stronger foundation in 5 areas – physical, relational, spiritual, financial, and vocational. The goal is to grow in those 5 areas so God can build something even more with my life.

    1. That’s a great idea too! Foundation really sets the tone for every goal you would have throughout the year too.

  3. It’s funny how people equally jump on the resolution or anti-resolution bandwagon. I’m trying to focus on establishing better daily habits to help me reach some strategic goals this year. Writing 500 words a day is one of them.

    1. Yeah. That one is a great idea! Hope you’re successful. Happy new year!

  4. Thank you for talking about honor. It is a virtue we see getting lost in corporate details!
