In Acts 20, Paul delivers a little farewell speech to the people of Ephesus. Paul had lead that church for a while, but was about to leave to never return.
I love what Paul says in Acts 20:32, he says…
“And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself. (Acts 20:32 NLT)
That’s what real leaders do.
Leaders entrust what they know and do to others that can carry the banner with them and after them.
Being a young leader can make this especially difficult. As a young leader, a lot of times we are watching over our shoulder and protecting our corner of the leadership turf. It’s tough to entrust what we know to others, but we have to do it. We have to swallow our pride. We have to be willing to pour into others and equip others in confidence that we’ll all be better off in the long run.
Leader, don’t be afraid that someone is going to take your job or do it better than you. Lead well. Good leadership reproduces.
Don’t be afraid to entrust that thing you started to someone else.
Don’t be afraid to share what you know with the people around you.
Don’t be afraid to lift up those around you.
