What’s Determining Your Destination?

Let your identity determine your destination, not your situation…

I tweeted that a few days ago and now I can’t get it out of my mind.

The truth is, no matter who you are, what you do, or who you are, you are going through or have just come through a situation in life that wasn’t what you wanted it to be.

  • Maybe you’re struggling to overcome a certain sin.
  • Maybe someone you’ve loved turned their back on you.
  • Maybe you’re finding roadblocks in every direction you try to turn.
  • Maybe you’ve been praying earnestly for something that hasn’t happened.

Whatever it is, you and I need to remember to…

Let our identity determine our destination, not our situation.

Who am I?
Who are you?

  • We’re children of God.
  • We’re people of value.
  • We’re people of purpose.
  • We’re friends of Christ.

Let that determine your next move (and the next one, and the next one), not what your situation is.

What’s your situation today? Who are you in Christ? Please share in the comments.

This is a well timed post. I’ve been struggling a lot these past few weeks. Sometimes the situation seems overwhelming. I’ve had to make a mantra of “Servant, Priest, Son” to remind myself of who and what I am. It’s nice to hear reminders from another.

    1. Glad it’s timely, John. Knowing who we are goes a long way in finding where we’re going. Have a good week, man

  3. Knowing self and God is so important when it comes to living a significant life and moving forward. I really like the quote you Tweeted.

  4. This quote is pretty interesting. In a sense it’s true. We must always keep in mind the love of God for us and who you are in Christ. but on the other hand your situation can determine your destination if you do not overcome the situation. The Bible saids in Hebrews 12:1 that since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every sin and every weight that easily besets us. Sometimes our tendency to fall to the same sin over and over and remaining in it hinders us from a closer walk with God. One book which I will recommend is “Backsliding” by Bishop Dag Heward Mills. Here’s the website for it http://www.daghewardmills.org/shop/search.php?search_query=causes+of+backsliding&recommendation=2362. Hope you get a chance to check it out. Thanks! :)
