Welcome the Opportunities

Working for any organization…..

a business
a church
a restaurant
a school
anything,

You’ll definitely have opportunities presented to you that are out of your knowledge base… out of your area of wisdom and comfort.

It can be easy to try to avoid these assignments, to not be available, to shun them as ‘not my job.’

It can be easy to be intimidated by a task that stretches us to the max and pushes us to find answers.

But, those are the opportunities…

  • the opportunities to learn
  • the opportunities to grow
  • the opportunities to add value
  • the opportunities to get noticed
  • the opportunities to serve

We can’t hide from what we don’t know out of the fear of failure and a little aggravation,
that’s not how great people are made.

We accept the opportunities that are handed to us and run to find the answer and complete the task.

In what ways are you being stretched by what’s being asked of you?

  1. Well I just went on staff at my church at the beginning of the year so I’m stretched daily! :)

Right now it’s mostly in the realm of live streaming. That was just recently dropped in my lap and I know nothing about it. But you’re right, it’s an opportunity to learn and grow in this area.

    Perspective is everything!

    1. Absolutely. I got the same thing a couple of years ago when I started at new church… even had the live streaming thing. haha… The good thing about stretching is you get better at it the more you do it. haha… enjoy the ride, Tony! Good to hear from you.

  2. Great reminder, It’s in the stretching that we become better and more skilled. Personally I’m stretching myself to write an eBook, it’s a challenging but rewarding process.

  3. Couldn’t agree more. Great post, Jonathan!
