There’s a healthy balance between being patient with the vision God’s given you and the people He’s allowed you to have a relationship with and being discontent with where you are.

What I mean is this,

there’s a burden inside all of us. Something that we believe must happen and that we’re responsible for. We have to be patient with it. It won’t happen overnight.

But,

we can’t be content with where we are in the process. Contentment leads to inactivity. It leads to not getting to where you KNOW you need to be.

No matter what you do, maintain that healthy discontented patience.

  1. Discontented patience. I like that.
I just read this verse in Isaiah (in the Message translation) and it compliments this well. “We’re in no hurry, God. We’re content to linger in the path sign-posted with your decisions. Who you are and what you’ve done are all we’ll ever want.” (Isaiah 26:7)

    1. Great verse for this. Thanks, Eileen! Have a great week.

  2. I find myself correcting people quite a bit when they tell me to be content in my circumstances. I understand the need to be patient and know that God will move in His timing, not mine, but you are right, contentment leads to passive waiting, not active waiting. It makes us sit around and wait for God to do everything, which isn’t what He wants.

    Great post JP!

    1. Well said. Thanks, Jason!

  3. What a great topic to keep in the back of our minds. Finding the balance between patience and knowing when to move is key.

OK, I love this because even tho i “know” this, just reading the words gives me a clearer focus on the truth of not sitting around waiting on what God has for me. Thnx JP, for once again enlightening me!

    1. You’re very welcome!
