Vigor for the Voice
The amount we desire to hear someone reflects how highly we value that person.
A few weeks ago, I was sitting at home reading tweets on my phone when a phone call came in. I checked out the number and saw that it wasn’t someone from my contacts. After pausing for a few seconds to decide if I was gonna answer it, I decided to hit the ‘answer’ button.
It was a lady from the Gallop Poll.
She was extremely nice and asked if I’d give some of my time to take part in their survey. Feeling like I’d be helping her out, I agreed.
About 5 minutes into the conversation, another call came through. I checked to see who it was and noticed that it was my wife.
Not thinking twice, I told the Gallop Poll lady to call back later. I switched to my wife’s phone call.
Why?
Because I value my wife more than the lady with the Gallop poll.
The amount we desire to hear someone reflects how highly we value that person.
I can’t overstate the importance of us leaning close to God and hearing what He has to say.
Of opening up scripture and reading about His promises.
Of taking time out of our day to talk with and hear Him.
Of making it a priority in our lives to get close to Him
We can make time for what’s really important to us.
If we value Him the way we say we do, we must desire to spend time with Him.
We have to have vigor to hear His voice.
Vigor to read His word.
Vigor to know Him deeper.
Where do you go to hear from God?
Yes! Name It & Claim It
Just a quick post to remind us all….
If God said it, it will be.
If it’s written in scripture,
If God promises it to you,
it will be.
Claim what He has promised to give you….
Believe it, even if you don’t see it.
God’s promised you can do all things He’s called you to,
claim it.
God’s promised that nothing can separate you from His love,
believe it.
God’s told you that He will provide for you,
hold on to it.
If God names it,
claim it.
Believe it.
What promise do you need to reclaim today?
Your Dream Day
If you had one day to do whatever you wanted…
Cost not an obstacle.
Location not an obstacle.
Chores not an obstacle.
What would you do?
Lose the Fear. Look to Love.
- It can steal our joy.
- It can take our effectiveness.
- It can weaken our faith.
- It can separate us from the One that loves us.
- It can cripple relationships.
- It can make us miss out on doing something significant.
That’s why these verses are so critical to a believer’s life…
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 1 John 4:18
No matter how young or old you are, fear can cut you off from all that God has for you.
Fear will…
- Make us unwilling to do something significant.
- Keep us from forgiving our neighbor.
- Prevent us from taking a bold step of faith.
- Cause us to doubt the voice of God.
BUT,
Perfect love will…
Drive out that fear.
It gets inside us and squeezes the fear out of our lives…
it leaves no room for fear…
it fills us.
So, if you’re allowing fear to prevent you from doing what you know you should,
if you’re allowing fear to conquer your victory,
look to the love.
Look to be filled
with the love,
the perfect love of God.
