God & Technology

A few weeks, ago, we launched an online campus at Cornerstone Community Church.

It’s been great to hear the first stories of how going to church online is making an impact on people’s lives.

We’ve heard how people who have moved away from the church that they once loved are reconnecting to it on the other side of the country. We’ve also heard about husbands that never went to church with their wives until they discovered they could do it online and it piqued their interest.

We’ve tried to bring some of our own “flavor” to the online audience. Displaying our uniqueness and our ability to have a mult-ethnic church in a racially divided city.

If you want to check it out, you can every Sunday at 10 and 11:30 am.

It’s just a click away right here.

How have you seen God work through technology?

  1. We’ve started online broadcast of our 11:15 AM service on Sunday mornings here: http://www.countrysidechristiancenter.org/tv

I am hoping that it won’t disconnect people from actually coming to church, but I see that parents with sick kids can still hear the message as well as praise and worship.

I think technology, in general, has become a wonderful witnessing tool, but it also allows those that are radical or judgmental to be in the light.

    1. Very true. Thanks as always Sandy!!

  2. This is great stuff, actually something I am pushing our little church to start doing. Just a mater of getting everyone past the scare of it all.

    1. Yeah man. Definitely an investment.

  3. This sounds like a great tool.

Our church uses Twitter, Facebook and Emails to keep everyone up to date. We also use podcasts for allowing people to have easy access to missed sermons.

  4. Cool stuff! I would say that Christians from all diff parts of the country are closer because of online stuff. We can now communicate with people we normally wouldn’t even know if it were not for the internet.

By the way, here’s my post about ant smasher that was inspired by your iphone game post! haha: http://bigb94.wordpress.com/2011/05/06/a-life-lesson-from-ant-smasher

    1. Haha. Loved it!

      1. Thanks!

  5. Congrats on the online campus.

The idea of a multi-site church is still new to me (Mars Hill, Village Church, etc) and I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s just different and I haven’t processed the concept. I think they are doing great work though and God bless them.

Our church uses social media and has sermon video/audio available online afterwards. They aren’t live streaming that I know of.

Most of the church staff, including pastors, use Twitter and Facebook and it has been really cool to connect with them that way. Sunday mornings are usually crowded and busy so getting a moment of their time and attention is rare. Social media provides a chance during the week and off-campus.

    1. Yeah. I think it’s a great way for pastors to connect!
