Rumored to be guarded 24 hours a day in a vault, the official Coca-Cola recipe has been one of the most closely kept trade secrets since the popular soft drink was concocted by medicinal chemist John Pemberton in 1886. Read more

I don’t really know if Coke’s recipe has been found or if what they found is the real thing.

I do know, however, that we can learn a valuable lesson from Coke.

Guard your heart.

The “secret” recipe that Coke has been using for the last 125 years has been closely guarded since it was perfected. The recipe is what makes Coke different. In essence this recipe is the heart of the largest soft-drink company in the world.

You and I must guard our hearts.

We have to be careful who we give access to the thing that makes us who we are.
The place where our inner-most secrets are stored.
The place that gives us our very life.

Sure, we have to let some people in.
We have to allow some people to know our “secret” recipe…
Allowing trusted people in is as important as keeping most out.

But we MUST be careful.

If we open it up to the wrong people or the wrong thing, our special ingredient that makes us ourselves can be destroyed quickly.

  1. Prov 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” – that has been one my favorite verses over the last year. Great post, J.

    1. Ah dangit, too slow on this one as I was going to post the same exact verse.

  2. Great analogy!

  3. It’s not easy to see all the time, but everything and everyone we let into our hearts will impact and change us in some way. Great reminder to protect our hearts man!

  4. As I see it there are two kinds of people you can trust.

    1. The earned trust: someone who has earned your trust through countlessexperiences of prooving themselves worthy.
2.The check mated trust: Someone you know is in a horrible enough possition that they could not break your trust. The only example off hand I can think of is black mail. lol

lemme know if you can find more ways.
Still so few know the true Identity of me Identity Ameth.
