Get In The Boat

Genesis 7:1 The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.

As I was reading through the story Noah a few days ago, I had this thought…

What if Noah, after all that he had done, all the steps of obedience he’d taken, refused to get in the boat?

What if Noah, after spending his time, energy, and effort building this big boat, would have failed to step inside?

What if Noah, would have failed to make the leap after the preparation?

What if God’s been preparing me for something?

What if God’s been working something in my life?
Guiding me through the process.
Teaching me step by step.

And I refuse to get in the boat and obey?

What if God’s doing the same in your life?

Don’t waste what God’s done in and through you because you’re unwilling to get in the boat and take the final step!

Get in the boat and…

turn the world UPSIDE down.

  1. That’s funny, our pastor’s new series is “When Your Ship Comes In”. I detect a boat-theme for February!

    Good stuff, Jonathan! :)

    1. Nothin like a boat theme during the winter huh?

  2. great post. also not sure if it’s suppose to look like this, but your share links overlap with your main background. http://cl.ly/3x3C0O2V2q3y260G1J1R see?

    1. Yeah. Looks that way to me too. I think it’s supposed to. Thanks man!

  5. Just the building of the boat was a leap of faith, but actually getting in the boat and remaining there was the real test. :)

  6. I’ve never heard this take on the story of Noah before, but it’s very powerful! Thanks for the reminder that we need to take the final steps in what God is calling us to do.

    1. I had never heard it either. That’s why I had to share. Thought this was great stuff. Thanks, Jason!

  7. I kind of hate What If’s, hence the reason why I tend to try and stay in the boat.

    1. Think that holds a lot of us back. Thanks Ben.

  8. So many times I have wasted precious opportunities–good reminder.

Wow, what a revelation!! many things to think on there…Especially for me. Your posts are certianly getting deeper and deeper. Thanx.

  10. If we don’t get in the boat we can never step out…thanks for the great post Jonathan!

  11. What if you finally get in the boat, then Jesus walks on the water toward the boat and tells you to get out of the boat? What if you get confused? =) Just teasing. You’re absolutely right and that’s something I had never thought about. It’s a great point. Thanks for pushing my thinking on faith and obedience. Good stuff.

  12. I was just thinking about this yesterday. My family has been brought through so many tough things recently, and the amount of GOOD that has happened to us through all that convinces me of a greater purpose.

What was is John Ortbeg said? If you want to walk on water, you’ve gotta get out of the boat. I guess in the boat or out, it just depends on where God wants you. : )

  13. […] God wants me to be a tool, not a trophy (I wrote more about this here). […]
