Watch Your Mouth!

by

in , ,

I came to a realization the other day…

Probably one that I should have known for some time.

Maybe even something that I’ve learned in the past,
just never processed.

You never know who’s gonna hear what you say.

When you tweet.
When you blog.
When you preach.
When you speak.

You never know what people are dealing with,
what people are going through.

You never know how they’re going to apply what you say.

I’d hate to find out that something I said caused someone else to do something really stupid.
That they trusted MY advice,
and it messed them up.

It’s important that we speak truth.
That what we say is known to be true.
That we are specific in our explanation of truth.
That we never make bold claims without knowing them to be true.

The solution?

We speak truth.
We speak God’s words.

If we do that,
we can be confident that God’s going to direct it where it should go.

Watch your mouth…
You never know who may actually listen.

  2. I left a comment a while back on @TaterHouse’s blog that my best friend has a saying. He says, “Sometimes we are the only Bible people read.” I think that quote is fitting here as well.

    1. Definitely fits here.

  3. It’s scary to think about this… but Michael’s friend is right. We need to be extremely careful that we are representing Christ at all times with word and deed.

  4. What you say (tweet, status update, text, etc.) says volumes about who you are and what your testimony is.

  5. There is life (or death) in the words we speak, and in the way we communicate…I so need to remember that!

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Thanks for the great reminder bro’. Appreciate ya!

  6. There are two fronts here…

The first front is the impact on seekers – they see God through us – that is how God designed it – let’s be the Imago Dei.

The second front is the battle of powers – spiritual ones – will our words be weapons against our side or for our side?

  7. I’m sanguine. Which means I enter the room with my mouth first.

As I’m sure everyone has noticed. :) I really need to work on this. Thanks for the encouragement.

    1. LOL. I never noticed! :)

I keep running into tthis message over and over, I know God is speaking to me about this.
We are the frontmen for God’s kingdom, we have the ability to have an impact om others by our words…whether intentional or not. Keep spreading the wisdom

    1. Thanks for dropping the comment, Darrell!

  9. That is a great reminder for me personally. It is easy to get caught up in the anonymity of the internet. People are reading even if they don’t know who you are…

    Thanks for this post!
