When the Waves Break

I read this quote a couple of days ago…

“Christ’s life outwardly was one of the most troubled lives that was ever lived: tempest and tumult, tumult and tempest, the waves breaking over it all the time. But the inner life was a sea of glass. The great calm was always there.” – Henry Drummond

I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind.

Every time I read it, I can’t help but think…

Who am I to complain about my life?
Having eternal life in Him
Getting to do His work
Having food on the table
Having a roof to live under
Doing life with an amazing wife.

Who was He to suffer for me?
He could have had any life He desired.
He could have not even had a life, but stayed on His heavenly throne.
He never had to do what He did.
He never had to go through what He went through.

My troubles shouldn’t shake me.
I don’t know why we let the little things in life get us down.
The God of life is holding us in His hand.

I want a sea of glass.
No matter what life may fling my way, I don’t want to be shaken.
Though stuff may come, stuff may go, my God is bigger.

No matter what this week may bring your way, rely on the UNSHAKABLE ONE to lead you through it.
Don’t let the stuff rolling into, over, and through your life distract you from the One that holds your life.

    WOW Jonathan!
I needed to be reminded of this today! We take our lives for granted… You also never know about someone else’s journey.
    Grace and peace to you.
