The Thing You Must Be Sure Of

by

in ,

We live in a world of uncertainty.

Things are going on around us and things are happening to us that we’re never completely sure about.
We’re forced to make quick decisions and sometimes make them without being certain they’re right.

There are a lot of things in life to be unsure of.

Sometimes, uncertainty is a good thing.
It can cause us to dive deeper into our thinking.
It causes us to completely rely on God.

However, sometimes uncertainty isn’t a good thing.

You can’t be uncertain in your standing with Christ.

You can’t be uncertain that you’ve accepted his forgiveness for your wrongs.
You can’t be uncertain that Jesus is God’s Son and our sacrifice.
You can’t be uncertain that He lived a completely perfect, complete, and miraculous life.
You can’t be uncertain that He died and was resurrected from the dead so that you could have continuous conversation and communion with God.
You can’t be uncertain that your life is completely turned over to Him.
You can’t be uncertain that your eternal, forever homes is with Him.

Some things are okay to be unsure of, this isn’t one.
You have to know.

  2. So true. I think being uncertain about who God is probably goes back to our foundations in faith. Tripping up from time to time on worries and fears are normal as long as we keep going back to the fact that God is God and He knows all things and does all things for His good. It’s a good reminder to all of us. 1 Cor. 10:12-13 says “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” So remembering that God is there and we always must be leaning on Him because we never know when something will trip us up and cause us to stumble.

  5. Well… yes. But, where does that leave “No one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit” ? Certainty comes by the Holy Spirit working through the Word, yes?

So, some may misread your post as saying “no one can really be certain” but I take it as “you may be uncertain about this now, but there is a way to get on solid ground.”

    Blessings!

    1. We’re on the same page. There is a way to know for certain (through the Holy Spirit. Thanks for bringing that out.
