Keeping Watch At Night

Luke 2:8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

It was an ordinary night for these shepherds. It was something they had done every night for years. Yet, this night, was going to change the course of human history.
The shepherds had no foreknowledge that Christ was going to be born on this night. The shepherds didn’t anticipate that this night would be the night in which the Savior of the world would be born. The shepherds were doing their work. Doing their thing. They were doing what they knew to do.
Sometimes, I have a hard time figuring out what it is that God exactly wants me to do. Sometimes I feel as if He’s calling me to something, but I’m too impatient in getting there. The solution: I have to do what He’s put me in the position to do until He moves me forward.
Before I experience the blessing of forward movement, I have to be faithful right where I am.
Until I have the opportunity to experience the unimaginable, I have to continue with what’s doable.
Until God positions me to see Him more clearly, I have to use my given opportunity.
No matter where you are today as opposed to where you want to be, be faithful. Be found working with what you have, where you are.
