Refrigerate After Opening

Why does peanut butter say on the label, “Refrigerate after opening?”

I’m a fan of crunchy peanut butter. I believe that man invented crunchy peanut butter and women invented creamy.
I’ve always enjoyed a nice crunchy spread on my bread, until a couple of weeks ago when I began to realize that peanut butter’s label was warning me all along that I should put it in the refrigerator. Being the Christian that I am, I decided to obey.
To my dismay, a few days later, I wanted some of the crunchy goodness, only to discover that it was impossible to spread. A spread that is impossible to spread. What?
I then took the peanut butter out of the fridge, placed it in the microwave for twenty seconds and realized that, because I was willing to follow directions, my enjoyment had been delayed by 20 seconds.
Just proof that it’s not always essential that you follow directions..
