Killing Me Kindly

2 Timothy 2:24-25 And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,”

My mom used to teach me that when people were mean or hateful to me, don’t be mean back. Instead, mom taught me to “kill them with kindness.” While I always figured that mom thought that by killing them with kindness it would make them feel like a jerk for being mean to such a nice person, there’s another use for it as well.
When people are mean to us, do ungodly things, or are just plain rude, we should show kindness for THEIR sake too. Our kindness may just lead someone to realize what they’re doing and repent of it. My challenge for myself today is to be overly kind to everyone. I don’t mean to be fake, but to be kind no matter the situation.
When that person gets on your nerves at work and you want to yell at them, kill them with kindness. When the lady with a buggy full cuts you off in the grocery line, tell her you hope she has a nice day. Who knows, it may be just the thing they need to repent and get right with God!
