You’re Not That Bad

I’m one of those people that loves to beat up on myself when I make a mistake. I think probably most of the population, at least the Christian population, is like this. We do something that we know is wrong or that we shouldn’t have done, and we begin to beat up on ourselves.

It’s ok that we’ve felt the conviction, we should, but once we repent, we have to forgive ourselves and move on. My being a perfectionist often causes me to continue to beat up on myself because of a mistake well after I repent of it.

Romans 8:1 says that there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ. In other words, we won’t be condemned because of our sin. We will be saved because of our relationship with Christ.
It’s not our promises of trying harder the next time we’re tempted. It’s not our beating up on ourselves that gives us salvation. It’s our being associated and saved through Christ.
Don’t beat up on yourself. Through your relationship with Christ, you are promised eternal life. God’s forgiven you and freed you…forgive and free yourself!
