Lazy Parenting

I twittered earlier today about parents forbidding their children from going to church as a way of punishment. I don’t know why, but this is really bugging me today.

So, please find another way to punish your child when they do something wrong! If they enjoy church so much that you would even consider it, squash the idea and then thank God that your children enjoy learning about Him!

Church is too important. If your child needs punishment, find a better way to do it. If your child is misbehaving, have them in church as often as possible! Truth is, that’s where they need to be. Truth is, that’s where you need to be!

By the way, I’ve found that most parents do this because they don’t want to go to church themselves, so they make themselves feel better about it by blaming it on their child…

Oh, and if you are a church leader, don’t forbid children or youth to come to church as a way of discipline…find another way!
