A Thanksgiving Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I’m so sorry that it takes a national holiday for me to recognize what you have done for me! I’m sorry that so many people in the world confuse thanksgiving with a holiday and fail to realize where their source of blessings come from. I’m sorry that in a country so blessed by you, Christians actually worry over the state of our economy. I’m sorry that we so often forget that you are in control of the economy, the presidency, the environment, and life itself.

Today, I remember to thank you! Today, I want you to know that I recognize what you’ve done for me and how you’ve blessed me! Thank you for my family! Thank you for sending me a fiancee that is going to love me for the rest of my life no matter how bad I mess it up! Thank you for the 3 people that have helped raise me to love you and try my hardest to seek you. Thank you for those people that have made an impact on who I am! For those that don’t have the same last name, but have made a difference just the same.

Thank you for your provision! Thank you that I have never had to worry about when I was going to eat again, or if I was going to eat again. Thank you that I have to DECIDE what to wear in the mornings. Thank you that I am fortunate enough to sleep in a warm house in the winter and a cool house in the summer.

Thank you for your salvation! Thank you that your Son died for me while I didn’t deserve it. Thank you that He is still my Savior even though I still haven’t earned it! Thank you that you never give up on me! Thank you that you care enough about me to constantly shape me into the image of your Son! Thank you that your forgiveness is accompanied by discipline. After all, you said in your word that any good father disciplines the children that he loves.

Thank you that you continue to bless when I forget to appreciate! Thank you that each day you remember to give life when I earn death. Be glorified today! Be glorified every day in my life for what you’ve done, what you are doing, and what you promise to do!

Thank you! I love you!
